UM, I'M HERE TONIGHT, UH, SEEKING THE GENTLEMAN TO GIVE ME A PARKING WAIVER.
'CAUSE YOU'RE CONVERTING THE SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE INTO TWO FAMILY HOMES.
MR. CHAIRMAN, IF I MIGHT, SO IN THIS CASE, UH, THE APPLICANT HAD TO APPEAR IN FRONT OF THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS TO GET A SPECIAL EXCEPTION TO ALLOW FOR THE PROJECT TO GO THROUGH FOR THE USE.
UNDER OUR CURRENT, UH, ZONING AND LAND USE OR SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE, UH, THE PARKING HAS GONE FROM WHERE IT HAD BEEN TRADITIONALLY WITH THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS NOW TO THIS BODY.
UH, JUST SO THAT THAT WE UNDERSTAND THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS DIDN'T AGREE OR, OR, OR NECESSARILY DISAGREE THERE, THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION ABOUT PARKING, BUT THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THE LOCATION OF PARKING IS SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN DEAL WITH.
THEY CAN'T DEAL WITH THE NUMBERS.
AND SO, UH, THE BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS DID GRANT THE SPECIAL EXCEPTION SUBJECT TO THE DETERMINATION BY THIS BOARD.
IF THE WAIVER FOR THE PARKING IS GRANTED, IF THIS BOARD WERE TO NOT, THEN THE APPLICANT WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK AND FIGURE OUT HOW HE'S GONNA GET HIS, I GUESS HE, THEY NEED FOUR SPOTS IN THIS LOCATION, CORRECT? FOR WHAT HE SAID? YES.
HOW THEY WOULD PUT FOUR SPOTS IN THE, UH, THAT THE BUILDING AND THERE ARE CURRENTLY TWO SPOTS AT THE, I THINK CURRENTLY AS IT'S, IT'S CONFIGURED, THERE'S TWO SPOTS AND HE IS HOPING THAT HE CAN GET A WAIVER.
AND THEN THE OTHER SPOTS WOULD BE ON STREET.
ON STREET STREET AND THE ON STREET PARKING.
FROM MY LOOKING AT THIS, THERE ARE OTHER HOUSES ALONG THIS STREET THAT USE OR UTILIZE ON STREET PARKING.
BUT I THINK THAT STREET IS THE WIDEST OF THE MALL, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.
WHERE DOES STAFF STAND ON THIS? SO I'VE BEEN DOWN THIRD STREET SEVERAL TIMES, LIKE THROUGHOUT VARIOUS POINTS OF THE DAY TO KIND OF SEE WHAT THE ON STREET PARKING LOOKED LIKE.
AND IT DOES SEEM LIKE THERE ARE OFTEN EMPTY SPOTS THERE ON THIRD STREET.
UM, I KNOW THAT SOME OF THE CONCERN IS LIKE, WHAT IF OTHER PROPERTIES THERE ON THAT STREET WANNA DO THE SAME TYPE OF THING, CONVERT THOSE SINGLE FAMILIES INTO TWO FAMILIES, ARE MULTI-FAMILIES AND COME FORTH FOR THE SAME, UM, REQUIREMENTS.
SO HOW EXACTLY WOULD THAT LOOK IN THE FUTURE? BUT UM, WITH THERE BEING THE ONE GARAGE SPACE, THE ONE DRIVEWAY SPACE.
SO I THINK THERE IS ENOUGH FOR ON STREET PARKING THERE CURRENTLY, THE WAY IT'S CONFIGURED WITH JUST EVERYTHING BEING SINGLE FAMILY THERE.
AND WE WOULD NORMALLY GET THESE THEN AFTER THE BZA IS GOING THROUGH ITS PROCESS, IT COULD GO EITHER WAY.
WE, WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE THE BZA FIRST.
IT JUST IS WITH TIMING AND NOTICES AND ALL.

THE NEXT HOUSE LOOKED LIKE THERE WAS THREE.
AND THEN WHEN I LOOK AT THIS DOCUMENT, IT SAYS THE, UH, STREET WIDTH IS 32 FEET, WHICH I THINK IS A LITTLE TIGHT.
YOU KNOW, IF YOU HAVE PARKING ON BOTH SIDES, YOU KNOW, THAT MEANS YOU GOT A MINIMUM OF WHAT, EIGHT FEET FOR EACH ONE.
BUT IT'S NOT A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA.
YOU KNOW, IT'S IF SOMEBODY'S PARKED AND THEY DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE THAT THEY CAN GO PAST EACH OTHER, ONE COULD WAIT WHILE THE OTHER ONE COMES THROUGH.
SO I DON'T THINK IT'S A BIG PROBLEM.
BUT, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE, THEY'RE PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OR THEY'RE PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET NOW? YEAH, IT'S, UH, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE LOT WIDTH OF THESE PROPERTIES ARE.
AND THEN YOU HAVE THE DRIVEWAY.
SO YOU GOT 25 FEET LEFT WITHOUT BLOCKING YOUR DRIVEWAY.
SO YEAH, BUT THERE'S, THERE'S PARKING ALONG THE STREET.
AND I WILL ADD THAT THE STREET WIDTH, UH, IS ACTUALLY WIDER THAN 30.
YOU SAY IT IS WIDER? I THINK IT IS.
I THINK IT MAY BE CLOSER TO 35.
I WAS JUST TRYING TO DO A OVERVIEW MEASUREMENT THE BEST I COULD THROUGH THE FLOOD TOOL.
UM, BUT THAT'S NOT 100% ACCURATE.
I DIDN'T ACTUALLY MEASURE THE STREET, BUT WHEN I, WHEN I PARKED, I MEASURED THE PARKING SPACES THAT WE HAVE OUT BACK AND THEY'RE NINE FEET BETWEEN THE WHITE LINES.
SO YOU KIND OF GET A FEEL FOR HOW MUCH SPACE YOU HAVE.
I HAD TWO OF THEM OUT THERE, THOSE HUGE TRUCKS SIDE BY SIDE.
AND WE STILL WERE ABLE TO HAVE TRAFFIC BACK AND FORTH GOING IN EITHER DIRECTION IN BETWEEN THOSE TWO.
THIS, THIS, IT'S A LOT OF SPACE, SO MAN, MANAGEABLE BY ABSOLUTELY.
